The memory of our reverend father , Michael the Confessor .

In memory of St. Michael, bishop of Sinad, who bore the same name as the Archangel of the heavenly forces, and led an angelic life, adorned with virginal purity and virtue, he was consecrated to God in his infancy, and in his youth he accepted monasticism and became a worthy servant of God.

It was built in 264 B.C. and received its name from the northern Finnish king Nicomedes I. The oldest city in Nicomedia is now under the patronage of St. Nicholas, Patriarch of Taizé, who lived in the city from 8 February 786 to 8 February 806.

St. Michael the Martyr was a native of Edessa, a city in ancient Mesopotamia, and the son of Christian parents. Upon their death, he distributed all the property he inherited from his parents to the poor and went to Jerusalem to visit the holy places.
