The memory of the Reverend Theophan
And when he was grown up, he married a certain virgin, and she died, and he believed and was baptized, and left all, and dwelt in a hut near the city, and dwelt there a long time, and taught them that came to him the commandments of God, and chastity.
When he heard of a prostitute who had corrupted many by her beauty, St. Theophanes came out of prison, dressed in bright clothes, and asked his father for nine liters of gold, as if he wished to marry the prostitute.
And he made that which was formerly a vessel of sin, a dwelling place of the Holy Spirit, and he distributed the gold to the poor.
