The memory of the holy martyr Lupus

The holy martyr Lupus lived during the reign of Emperor Aurelianus and was a slave to a certain master, but he was free in Christ the Lord (cf. 1 Cor 7:22), in whom he believed; filled with godly jealousy, Saint Lupus smashed the soulless Elenian idols, and some he threw into the depths of the sea.

Despite all their efforts, the wicked could not take the saint, for the power of Christ prevented them from even approaching the martyr; therefore, the wicked, standing at a distance, drew their bows and began to shoot arrows at the saint, but instead of the martyr they shot each other with their arrows; and St. Luppus, standing as a target for shooting (the point of aim) in the midst of all, not only was not killed by the arrow, but was not even wounded. But since the martyr of Christ had not yet been crucified and had cremated the whole saint, so as not to be killed by the hands of the tormentors, he prayed to the Lord; and immediately water rose from heaven over him.

After this, St. Lupus willingly gave himself as an innocent lamb to be slaughtered in the hands of the wicked; these, in turn, took the saint, led him to the igimon. Hegemon first tried to persuade the slave of Christ to withdraw from his Lord and worship idols; however, it was not possible to seduce the saint; then egemon ordered to beat the saint with sticks without mercy; after this egemon gave the saint to other tortures, but since he could not overcome the invincible slave of Christ, he condemned him to be cut with a sword. Thus, the holy martyr Lupus, bending his sword under his head, laid his soul for Christ, his Lord [Con dignity of the holy martyr followed the burial of Luke about 275 A.D.] and was buried with the faithful; his tombs were honored for the sake of all the prayers and graces of our Lord Jesus Christ.
