The Passion of St. John the Martyr
In the reign of Emperor Trajan, Christians were being cruelly persecuted in Rome. At that time, a decree was issued requiring all those under the emperor's rule to sacrifice to the gods, and those who refused to do so were punished.
The suffering of the holy martyrs Mochius and Mark
These holy martyrs were seized and handed over to Bishop Maximian I, who first persuaded them to sacrifice to idols, and then threatened them with death. When they were led to the altar, a small child went before them and prevented them from walking.
