The memory of our reverend father Achilles, Bishop of Larissa

This monk lived during the reign of Emperor Constantine the Great and came from pious parents. Having given himself to a pious and godly life and having studied secular sciences and higher philosophy, he adorned himself with all kinds of godly deeds, which is why he was appointed bishop of the upper Larissa of Thessaly [Thessaly - a region in ancient Greece.

He performed a great many other miracles. He also rebuilt the church buildings and richly decorated them, after which he peacefully passed away from this life [Reverend Achilles died about 330 A.D. His relics from 978 are in Bulgaria in the village of Agil, named after him.] .
